The Schererville Public Works sign shop installs and maintains all of the streets and traffic signs under the jurisdiction of the town. Duties of the sign shop employees include the installation of new signs, marking of new streets, rehabilitation of faded or bent signs, painting of crosswalks, painting of street center and edge lines, and the repair of damaged signs and signposts.

This division of the Public Works is also capable of producing custom sign legends which are used to mark special conditions and routes such as the "Historic Lincoln Highway" corridor, and the "Park Rules and Regulations" posted along US Rt. 30 and each of the Town Parks.

Public works employees spent over 120 hours this summer removing these illegal, unsightly sign postings from our roadways. Should you see anybody putting up these illegal signs please take down the license plate number and report it to our code enforcement officer at (219) 322-2211 or our police department at (219) 322-5000.

If you have a garage sale and put signs up, please remove them when your sale is over.
