UPDATE: Anyone affected by the flood should download and read the following two documents hosted on the Town of Schererville Website. These two documents are Governor Mitch Daniel's Statement and the FEMA Disaster Assistance Document. The Town is now is the process of assessing the damage caused by flooding in all areas. If you have experienced any flooding damage please contact the Schererville Building Department during normal business hours at 322-2211 ext 4. If your utility (gas and or electric) service was under water, consider them unsafe. We advise that you contact a professional contractor, the utility company (NIPSCO) or the Schererville Building Department if you need assistance or are not sure. Schererville inspectors are in the neighborhoods to assist residents in checking for any unsafe conditions. If you need assistance please contact us at the number above. Any repairs at your home done by yourself or a contractor will require building permits from the Town. Any contractor hired to do work in Schererville is required to be registered in Town, posting proof of insurance and a bond. If you have an emergency always call 911.
