![]() War: World War II Private Albert Sedlacek May 12, 1918 – December 23, 1944 Albert was born to Joseph & Anna Sedlacek of Steger, Il. He attended St. John the Evangelist School and St. John Township High School where he graduated in 1936. On June 12, 1944, Albert enlisted in the U.S. Army, completing his basic training at Camp Bianding, Fl. After basic training, he was sent to Europe with Co. A, 10th INF REGT.., 5th INF DIV. OR. Dec. 23, 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge, Co. A was given the mission of clearing a wooded area near Bech, Luxembourg. During this attack, there was heavy enemy fire and Albert was killed in action. Albert lies at rest abroad in the Luxembourg American Cemetery. A message to our father – “You were a loving husband and father. No longer here in our lives but in our hearts forever." -- Your devoted daughters BRONZE STAR
