Recommended Street Trees

The following is a list of trees that Public Works recommends for placement in the parkway. These are typically considered better for placement along the road as they are not as likely to destroy sidewalks or asphalt with root systems. They also grow tall and narrow, preventing overhang into the street and interference with vehicles. 

  • Amur Maackia (Maackia amurensis): 20'-30' ht., 20'-30' spread
  • Amur Maple (Acer Ginnala): 20' ht., 20' spread
  • Callery Pear (Pyrus Calleryana): 30'-50' ht., 60'-75' spread
  • Crabapple (Crateagus): 8' ht., 25' spread
  • Hedge maple (Acer Canpestre): 30' ht., 30' spread
  • Japanese Lilac Tree (Syrinja reticulate): 20'-25' ht.,15' spread
  • Peegee Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata): 15'-20' ht., 10'-20' spread
  • Red Maple (Acer Saccharum Callery‚Äč): 40'-60' ht., 40'-50' spread
  • Serviceberry (Rosacrae amelanchie): 20'-25' ht.,15'-20' spread
  • Smoketree (Cotinus Soggygria): 15' ht., 15' spread
