After nearly four decades of dedicated service, the Town proudly recognizes the retirement of Parks Superintendent John Novacich. This will be John's last week leading the Parks Department. His leadership and commitment have helped shape the our parks and public spaces for generations.
John began his tenure with the Town on May 1, 1989, stepping into the role of Parks Superintendent with a passion for maintaining and improving the Town’s parks and all Parks Department programs. Over the years, he oversaw countless projects, enhancements, and operations, always ensuring that residents could enjoy safe, welcoming, and well-maintained parks. He was invaluable in creating and maintaining spaces where families gathered, children played, and the community connected.
His legacy can be seen in the many parks and facilities that continue to serve residents today. John led the Town in acquiring grants for many projects. He helped start the bike trail projects and was instrumental in the creation of the Pennsy and Erie Trails, connecting our trail systems to the surrounding communities. The Community Center came into being through his hard work. Additionally, John helped to update and modernize many of the parks in Town, which led to a more enjoyable, more inclusive, and safer park experience for our residents.
As John enters into his well-earned retirement, the Town extends its sincere gratitude for his many years of service and contributions to the mission of the Parks Department. He will be greatly missed, and we wish him all the best in the years ahead.
