The following is a list of current major roadwork or road closures in Schererville. Information is posted as it is provided to us. Please check with Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) to check the status of US Highway 30 and US Highway 41.

Notice of Road Work:

Where: Joliet Street-in between Austin Ave and Cline Ave
When: Monday July 20, 2026 – Aug. 12
Purpose: ROAD WORK-Concrete and asphalt work

Joliet Street, between Austin Ave and Cline Ave, will have road work starting on Monday July 20, 2026 through approx Aug. 12 from 7:00 AM-5:00 PM daily.

This project will consist of concrete repairs to curbs and sidewalks, road milling (grinding), new asphalt surface and road striping.
Local residents will have access to their properties throughout the work day.

All road work is weather dependent.

All traffic is encouraged to plan ahead in using alternate roadways to avoid the work zone whenever possible.

Notice of Road Closure from INDOT:

U.S. 231 to close at Cline Ave for roundabout construction

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Milestone Contractors LP will close U.S. 231 at Cline Ave on or after Wednesday, July 8 for phase two of roundabout construction.

The intersection will be completely closed to traffic in all directions, and motorists should seek alternate routes. The official detour for U.S. 231 will utilize U.S. 41, U.S. 30 and I-65. The detour for Cline Ave traffic will follow 101st Ave, Parrish Ave and 117th Ave.  

Roundabout construction will be ongoing through late September. INDOT encourages drivers to consider safety for all by slowing down, using extra caution and driving distraction-free when travelling in and around all work zones.

UPDATED NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSURE

Where: Junction Ave. From Kennedy Ave. to Joliet St.
When: Through September 4, 2026
Purpose: Reconfiguration of Junction Ave. as part of Kennedy Ave. Project

Junction Ave. from Kennedy Ave. to Joliet St. will continue to be closed to thru traffic through September 4, 2026

The Closure is scheduled for reconfiguration of Junction Ave. as part of the Kennedy Avenue Project.

Local residents and businesses on Junction Ave. east of Kennedy Ave. outside of the construction limits, will have access from Joliet Street.

Local businesses on Junction Ave. west of Kennedy Ave. outside of the construction limits, will have access from Kennedy Ave.

Following the completion of and opening of Junction Ave. Kennedy Ave. from Junction Ave. north to Division Street will be closed until further notice.

NOTICE OF LANE RESTRICTIONS

Where: Kennedy Ave. from Main St. to Junction Ave.
When: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Daily
Purpose: Utility Relocations 

Kennedy Ave. from Main St. to Junction Ave. will have flaggers present intermittently when relocating utilities for the Kennedy Avenue Project.

One lane of traffic will be closed intermittently to complete work. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic. Delays should be expected.

All traffic is encouraged to plan ahead in using alternate roadways to avoid the work zone whenever possible.
