A boil water advisory has been issued by the Schererville Water Department effective immediately and until further notice for any residence or business located South of US 30 and East of Cline Avenue. On Thursday, August 7, 2025 at approximately 1:00 AM, Water Department personnel were dispatched by Southcom for reports of multiple calls for low to no water pressure. Due to SCADA telemetry system failure, the system pressure dropped below the required minimum of 20 pounds per square inch. Under rules set forth by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, the Schererville Water Department is required to issue a PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ADVISORY for any water being used for human or pet consumption until testing is completed and found to be free of contaminants. We anticipate receiving passing results by Saturday, August 9, 2025. Water used for human or pet consumption should be brought to a hard boil for 5 minutes before using. Water used for showering and clothes washing is acceptable. Please keep lawn irrigation to a minimum during this time. Please check Town of Schererville social media (Facebook or Twitter), the town website (www.schererville.org) or local newspapers for updates to this advisory.
Again, this is a PRECAUTIONARY measure. We have no reason to believe there has been any contamination to your water supply.
