NOTICE OF ROAD WORK
Where: 77th Avenue from US 41 to Austin Ave.
When: Monday July 7, 2025-Wednesday July 18, 2025
Purpose: Road work-Asphalt resurfacing, Concrete repairs

77th Avenue will be reduced to 1 lane of flagged traffic July 7, 2025 - July 18, 2025 from 7:00 AM-5:00PM each day from US 41 to Austin Ave. for concrete repairs, road milling and asphalt resurfacing.

Local traffic will have access throughout the work day.

Crews are expected to complete this work by Friday July 18th, 2025.

All road work is weather dependent.

All traffic is encouraged to plan ahead in using alternate roadways to avoid the work zone whenever possible.

NOTICE OF NIPSCO UTILITY WORK
Where: Kennedy Avenue - Main Street to Junction Avenue
When: Monday June 23, 2025 – December 31, 2025
Purpose: Nipsco electric and natural gas installation project

NIPSCO is set to relocate and replace utility poles, electric wires, and underground gas mains in preparation for the Kennedy Avenue construction project. This work will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and drivers should expect some lane and road closures during this time. There may also be some weekend work required to stay on schedule. It's important for motorists to drive cautiously around construction zones and to heed the instructions of onsite workers and any posted signs.

The electric work will be carried out by ARC American, a contractor approved by NIPSCO. Please be prepared for additional traffic, bucket trucks, equipment, construction matting, excavation, digging, and onsite traffic control crews.

The project is anticipated to continue through the end of the year. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

All traffic is encouraged to plan ahead in using alternate roadways to avoid the work zone and closure areas whenever possible.

NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSURE

Where: Burr Street-From 73rd Ave (Joliet St) to 78th Avenue
When: Monday June 16th, 2025 – October 6, 2025
Purpose: Road reconstruction, water main replacement and concrete work

Burr Street from 73rd Avenue to 78th Avenue will be CLOSED to traffic starting on Monday June 16, 2025 through October 6, 2025.

Work includes installation of a new transmission water main, concrete curb installation, roadway reconstruction and a continuation of the adjacent multi-use trail.

Please follow the designated detour signage during roadwork.

All roadwork is weather dependent.

Local Traffic along Burr Street will have access throughout the project.

All traffic is encouraged to plan ahead in using alternate roadways to avoid the closure area whenever possible.

NIPSCO is improving its electric system's reliability, resiliency, and safety through planned electrical upgrade and expansion projects across its service area. As a part of this plan on January 6, 2025, the company will start work on 91st Avenue, between Burr Street and Chase Street to upgrade the existing electric utility poles and wire along that corridor. To ensure the safety of onsite crew members and local residents there will be intermittent road closures in place between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday. 

Signage will be placed, and the recommended detour route is Burr Street, RT 30, and W 87th Avenue/Whitcomb Street. This work is expected to last through the end of March, please drive with caution around any construction zone and follow the directions of posted signage and onsite flaggers.   

NIPSCO would like to thank residents for their patience as this important upgrade is being completed and will continue to work with local officials to minimize community impact throughout the duration of the planned work.
