77th Ave. NIPSCO work Update:

We have received word that the NIPSCO electric upgrade project on 77th Ave. will resume on June 26th.

Those travelling on the route are reminded to expect lane and/or road closures.

Click here to read the full NIPSCO notice.

Update: 8/17/2020

From NIPSCO - Originally NIPSCO had hoped to be finish this project by mid summer but we still have 2-3 weeks left to complete all work.  The pandemic and recent work resources have slowed our progress in this area.  Recently our goal was to expedite work and be done this week but  contractors were pulled off of this job to support hurricane restoration efforts out east and now have been working the last week to support restoration of NIPSCO customers.

The plan at this time will be to bring an extra crew to the project and work from 8/17-8/28 to complete the project. We will work in the 9am-2pm time frame to lower impact for the school and morning and afternoon drop off.  Our hope is to minimize impacts in this area related to school and keep everyone safe as we finish this project.

Notice from NIPSCO regarding roadwork along 77th Ave:

Beginning 3/31/20, 77th Ave. will be closed to both lanes of traffic from Lincolnwood Ave. to Springhill Dr. during the working hours of 7am-5pm.

Residents living on Starlight Dr. and Summer Dr. will be allowed to pass through by the flagging team.

Traffic expecting to enter 77th from Lincolnwood will be detoured to US 30 and over to Austin Ave.

This road closure is expected to end by April 3rd.

Click here to see graphics of upcoming road closure.

Page 2 of the above traffic plan is how NIPSCO plans to proceed along 77th for the remainder of the Construction.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 warnings, NIPSCO contractors on 77th may be diverted to other NIPSCO emergency projects. When this occurs, construction on 77th Ave. will be suspended for approximately 4 weeks.

At that time, all roads will be free to pass.

We will keep residents informed of details of the 77th project as NIPSCO provides them to us.

Thank you for your patience in this matter.
